Everything depends on the factory unit, not the model year. The years below are a guide only — BMW changed generations mid-year.
CIC
Car Information Computer

NBT
Next Big Thing
Square tile menu (ID4/ID5), faster graphics, dial with touchpad on some models. Roughly 2012 – June 2016.
EVO
NBT Evo / ID5–ID6
Live tiles on the home screen, touchscreen on many models. From July 2016.
How to check for certain, in two minutes
- Start the car and photograph the main menu on the screen.
- Go to Settings → Software and photograph the software version.
- Send us the photos on WhatsApp at +40 741 677 110 or by email. We'll confirm the right model before shipping.
The LVDS connector
On some generations there are two types of LVDS connector on the head unit. If you already have the unit out, photograph the connector and send it to us — it's the most reliable way to identify the system. The difference between the types is shown in the gallery image on each product page.
